We're in the Community! For over 50 years, the Junior League of Gaston County has played a major role in the development of
projects that serve the needs of the Gaston County community. The League continues the tradition of partnering with
community organizations as it focuses on women and children in need. This year, members
of the League will contribute volunteer hours to improve our community through partnerships with the following organizations:

Holy Angels is a private, nonprofit corporation dedicated to providing a home of unconditional love and
unlimited possibilities for children and adults with mental retardation and physical disabilities. Many of our residents are
medically fragile and require specialized medical care.

THE SHELTER OF GASTON COUNTY
The Shelter of Gaston County, under the direction of The Gaston County Department of Social Services,
is organized and operating for the purpose of decreasing the incidence of domestic violence in our community by offering temporary
shelter and resource services to the women and children of Gaston County who are victims of domestic violence. Of particular
interest to The Shelter is the safety, both physical and psychological, of our residents and the continued education of our
community toward domestic violence.

Providing a safe home for young girls who have a troubled home life or background and offering the opportunity
to impact a young girl's life in a very positive way and build a trusting relationship.

CHRISTIAN WOMEN'S JOB CORPS
Providing a Christian context in which persons in need are equipped for life and employment; and a missions
context in which women help women.

S.O.C.K.S. (Serving Our Community with Kindness in Springwood)
Provides assistance for food, clothing, utilities, medicine and hospital supplies in the Springwood area
of Gaston County.

GASTON MEMORIAL BIRTHPLACE: NICU
Committed to providing competent and tender care to support the physiologic, developmental, psychosocial and educational
needs of infants and their families.

Girl Scouts is the world's pre-eminent organization for girls, and only girls. Its mission is to inspire girls with the
highest ideals, of conduct, character, patriotism and service, so that they may become caring and resourceful citizens.

Camp Sunshine is a once a year event. It is a one-week day camp for economically disadvantaged youth. The camp is run by
volunteers and serves approximately 90 children ages six to ten at Camp Rotary. The children are provided a snack breakfast,
lunch, crafts, special activities, swimming, songs and story telling. FUMC provides for all the expense of running this camp.

COMMUNITY FOUDNATION/RUN FOR THE MONEY
Throughout 30 years of progress, the Community Foundation's commitment has been apparent in their
mission statement: the Community Foundation is the primary steward of philanthropic giving by connecting donors with community
needs to enhance the lives of present and future generations..
