Our Purpose

Our Mission

The Junior League of Gaston County, Inc. is a non-profit organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The Junior League of Gaston County reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism.

The Junior League of Gaston County, N.C. Inc. is committed to strengthening our community by improving the lives of families in need through voluntarism, leadership, and collaboration.

Who We Are

The Junior League of Gaston County is over 200 members strong. Our membership is comprised of financial consultants, real estate brokers, homemakers, public relations/marketing consultants, students, insurance agents, lawyers, architects and others types all women. We range in age from early twenties to late eighties. The Junior League of Gaston County, is a member of AJLI, the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc.

The Junior League of Gaston County will strive to build strong financial and volunteer support for the health and well-being of children through program development and community partnerships.
  • EDUCATE and TRAIN members for community involvement and leadership.
  • REASEARCH and DEVELOPMENT projects and programs to meet the changing needs of the community.
  • PARTICIPATE and CONTRIBUTE to community projects and programs through volunteer services and board representation.




Our History

In 1959, a group of eleven young women realized the need for trained volunteers in our community.  Many of them had volunteer expereience through churches and other organizations and knew there was a need in our community to make better the lives of Gaston County's women and childern.  Thus began the Jujnior Service League of Gaston County,now know as the Junior League of Gaston County.  Though our name has changed over the years, our mission has not.  The League was created for the purpose of training its members to become responsible citizens and effective community participants.
